Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has announced an ambitious goal to ensure round-the-clock access to clean drinking water through a smart distribution system within the next five years.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Waglé unveiled this plan on Friday while presenting the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 during a joint session of the Federal Parliament.
Delivering the budget speech, Minister Waglé emphasized the administration’s commitment to modernizing the nation’s utility infrastructure.
He stated that the government aims to provide drinking water services to 65 percent of the population within the next three years and reach 100 percent of citizens within five years, utilizing smart distribution technologies to maintain a consistent and safe supply for all households.
