Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has announced a strategic plan to merge the Hydropower Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) with another financial institution that shares a similar mission. This consolidation is designed to establish a more powerful, specialized body dedicated specifically to infrastructure development.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Waglé unveiled this reform during the presentation of the federal budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 before a joint session of the Federal Parliament. By integrating these entities, the government aims to create a robust specialized agency capable of financing and driving large-scale infrastructure projects across the nation more effectively.
