Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has announced that it will offer shares of Rastriya Beema Company and Bishal Bazaar Company to the general public as part of its new fiscal policy.
This move is intended to broaden ownership and provide investment opportunities to ordinary citizens in these established institutions. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Waglé unveiled this plan on Friday during the presentation of the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 before a joint session of the Federal Parliament.
During his budget speech, the Minister confirmed that the necessary processes would be initiated to issue equity from both the national insurance provider and the historic commercial centre, Bishal Bazaar. By divesting a portion of its holdings to the public, the administration aims to enhance market participation and foster a more inclusive investment environment within the country’s financial landscape.
