Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has announced a decade-long income tax holiday for entrepreneurs who establish film halls in Metropolitan and Sub-metropolitan cities across the country.
This strategic incentive, introduced in the national budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, is designed to revitalize the domestic film industry and encourage private sector investment in modern urban entertainment infrastructure. By offering a 10-year tax exemption, the government aims to upgrade cultural facilities and stimulate economic activity in major urban hubs.
While presenting the fiscal roadmap before a joint session of the Federal Parliament, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle also officially announced an increase in the salaries of government employees. These measures reflect the administration’s broader intent to boost morale within the civil service while simultaneously driving private sector growth through targeted tax incentives.
