Kathmandu: Prime Minister Balendra Shah demonstrated his support for homegrown industries by sporting a pair of “Goldstar” shoes during the national budget presentation at the Federal Parliament on Friday.
The Prime Minister remained present for the entire duration of the budget speech, attentively following the financial roadmap laid out for the upcoming fiscal year.
As the parliamentary session concluded, the Prime Minister was seen interacting with various lawmakers in the lobby. During these exchanges, he met with Member of Parliament Bidushi Rana, who is also the executive director of the company that manufactures the iconic Goldstar footwear.
In a lighthearted yet significant moment, the Prime Minister pointed to his white sneakers and remarked to Rana, “I am wearing a Nepalese product,” confirming his choice of the local brand.
While the Prime Minister is frequently seen in public wearing distinctive white footwear, it was officially revealed during this interaction that his signature shoes are indeed from the Nepalese brand Goldstar. This gesture has been interpreted as a strong endorsement of domestic manufacturing and a symbolic call to prioritize and promote “Made in Nepal” products at the highest levels of government.
