Kathmandu: The National Vigilance Centre (NVC) has intensified surprise inspections at government offices.
The Centre has been conducting surprise checks at 10 offices per day, said Information Officer at the Centre, Sarita Khatiwada. The Centre has formed five groups for this purpose.
The groups have been inspecting employees’ attendance, office uniform, and file tracking, among other activities. The Centre conducted surprise inspections at 1,130 offices from the beginning of the current fiscal year.
During this period, a total of 6,710 employees were found not following the office duty hours, while 1,162 employees were found not wearing proper office uniform, added Khatiwada.
During the surprise check, some of the offices were monitored two or three times. Information Officer Khatiwada mentioned that action has been recommended against such employees.
As per the Civil Service Act, 2049 BS, the employees facing a warning twice would face departmental action.
The Centre has been conducting monitoring of government offices in seven provinces.
