Air pollution station makes locals aware of environmental issues in Rapti

Tulsipur (Dang): An ‘air pollution station’ set up at the Office of Rapti Rural Municipality in Dang has been beneficial for the locals to know about the environmental status of their area.

“The device installed for the air pollution station would not only indicate the status of air pollution but also suggest how we could formulate plans on environment conservation, tree plantation, dust control and public health awareness,” said chair of Rural Municipality, Prakash Bista.

The air pollution is triggered by industries, vehicles and other factors, which will be measured by the stations’ devices. The device checks the air pollution status round-the-clock. It was set up for Rs 10 million, which was assisted by the federal government.

It is the first time, two years back, that such a pollution measuring device was set up in the cities outside the federal capital.
