HoR meeting: MPs draw government’s attention to contemporary issues in ‘urgent hour’

Kathmandu: Lawmakers have raised their voices on various contemporary issues.

During the urgent hour of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Bhumika Subba drew the attention of the government not to remove the private housing of the people constructed along the Mechi highway.

Subba urged the government not to destroy the houses to protect them from becoming unemployed, as the government’s such move would make them homeless and affect their hotel business.

“The locals are terrorized from the notice of the Department of Roads. The decision to destroy the houses of locals constructed along the Mechi highway should be withdrawn,” opined Subba.

Similarly, Nita Ghatani protested the discrimination against Dalits in Kathmandu while Gyan Bahadur Shahi demanded an investigation into irregularities pointed out by the report of the Auditor General.

Likewise, Yashoda Kumari Baral stressed the need to immediately carry out repair and maintenance of different roads along the Karnali highway for the resumption of vehicular movement, as roads along the highway have been obstructed at different places.
