HoR committee meeting: MPs call for operation of Gautam Buddha, Pokhara Int’l airports


Kathmandu: MPs have called for the prompt operation of the Gautam Buddha and Pokhara international airports.

In today’s meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, they also urged the relevant authorities to come up with an action plan for bringing the airports built with billions of investment to maximum use.

Some committee members said there should also be an investigation into why both airports are not fully operational.

Committee members Jagadish Kharel, Dr Arjun Karki, Ganesh Karki, Ganesh Bahadur Bishwakarma, Taufiq Ahmed Khan, Renuka Kaucha, Ram Lama, Prashant Upreti, and Anushka Shrestha expressed concern over the airport not being operational.
Committee chairperson Sumnima Udas said that both international airports need to be managed properly to reduce the congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport.
