Gold prices skyrocket with massive single-day jump of Rs 5,000

Kathmandu: The price of gold in the Nepali market witnessed a dramatic surge on Monday, climbing by Rs 5,000 per tola in a single day. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has been set at a staggering Rs 298,200 per tola for today’s trading.

This sharp rise follows the market rates from Sunday, when gold was priced at Rs 293,200 per tola. The sudden spike has pushed precious metal prices to new heights, reflecting significant shifts in the domestic economic landscape.

Silver prices have also followed this upward trend, reaching Rs 5,015 per tola on Monday. This marks a notable increase from Sunday’s trading rate, which stood at Rs 4,895 per tola.

The domestic price hike is largely driven by soaring rates in the international market. As of Monday morning, gold was trading at approximately US$ 4,328 per ounce globally, while silver reached US$ 70 per ounce, contributing to the record-breaking prices currently seen in Nepal.
