Shiva Shikhar Cooperative’s small depositors begin receiving savings refunds

Kathmandu: The Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee has begun the process of returning savings to the small-scale depositors of the Shiva Shikhar Cooperative. According to the committee, 248 victims recently received their refunds, bringing the total number of depositors who have recovered their funds from this specific cooperative to 1,117 so far.

The committee stated that this initial phase of repayment is specifically targeting individuals with smaller savings balances. Following this priority group, the committee plans to categorize remaining depositors based on their total savings amounts and will continue to release funds in a gradual, systematic manner.

The government has clarified that the money being returned to the victims is sourced directly from the recovery of loans and the management of assets belonging to the troubled cooperatives. Under existing legal frameworks, the committee is continuously working to liquidate assets and collect outstanding debts to ensure that affected members are reimbursed as more funds become available.
