British College and CAN Federation forge strategic alliance for Startup World Cup Nepal Chapter 2026

Kathmandu: The British College and the Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation) have entered into a strategic agreement to collaborate on the “Startup World Cup Nepal Chapter 2026.”

This partnership is designed to fortify the foundations of Information Technology and digital entrepreneurship within Nepal, providing a robust ecosystem for emerging innovators.

Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, CAN Federation will serve as the “Strategic Organizing Partner” for this prestigious global competition. The agreement was formally signed by Rajan Kandel, Group CEO of The Kandel Group and The British College, and Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of CAN Federation.

This collaboration is envisioned as more than just a competition; it is a major initiative aimed at consolidating innovative ideas from across Nepal and helping them transition into established commercial ventures. Driven by the belief that entrepreneurship should not be confined to the Kathmandu Valley, the partnership has outlined a comprehensive nationwide strategy to identify and nurture talent in various provinces.

The initiative will feature provincial-level competitions specifically designed to discover local startups outside the capital. Furthermore, the partnership will bridge the gap between emerging entrepreneurs and seasoned industry leaders, successful business figures, and technical experts through dedicated mentorship. A primary focus will also be placed on facilitating connections with both domestic and international investors to ensure that innovative ideas have access to the capital required for scaling.

During the signing ceremony, leaders from both organizations emphasized the importance of a vibrant startup culture and a strong digital foundation for Nepal’s economic prosperity. Rajan Kandel noted that innovation and entrepreneurship are the primary drivers of future economic growth, highlighting that this partnership offers a powerful platform for Nepali startups to access mentorship, investment, and global opportunities. Chiranjibi Adhikari added that the collaboration would encourage innovation nationwide and provide tech entrepreneurs with a historic opportunity to showcase their potential on the world stage.

The “Startup World Cup,” organized globally by Pegasus Tech Ventures, stands as one of the largest and most prestigious startup competitions in the world, taking place in more than 60 countries. The winner of the Nepal Chapter will earn the honour of representing the nation at the Global Grand Finale held in Silicon Valley, the world’s premier technology hub.

While competing against the best innovators on the global stage, the ultimate winner of the competition has the opportunity to secure a massive investment prize of US$ 1 million, which amounts to more than Rs 130 million. This partnership marks a significant milestone in putting Nepali innovation on the global map and fostering a new generation of digital leaders.
