Kathmandu: Jagdamba Motors, the authorized distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, has officially launched the highly anticipated “Proton e.MAS 5” compact electric SUV. The grand unveiling took place during a special event held at the Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu, marking the brand’s second venture into the electric vehicle segment in the country. This new model is expected to redefine urban mobility for Nepali consumers by merging sophisticated technology with a highly functional and intelligent design.
The Proton e.MAS 5 arrives in the local market with a prestigious international reputation, having recently been crowned the “Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2024” at the Allianz DFM Vehicle of the Year Awards in Malaysia. The vehicle is designed to cater to modern lifestyles, featuring a high-tech cabin equipped with a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These features, combined with its sleek aesthetics, aim to provide a premium driving experience for both daily commutes and weekend getaways.
A key highlight of the e.MAS 5 is its remarkable focus on utility and spatial efficiency. The SUV offers a versatile storage ecosystem with 32 different compartments throughout the cabin. For luggage, it provides a 70-litre front trunk, commonly known as a “frunk,” and a 375-litre rear cargo space that can be further expanded. This thoughtful layout ensures that drivers have ample room for personal belongings, making it one of the most practical options in the compact SUV category.
During the launch ceremony, Akhil Gupta, Executive Director of Jagdamba Motors, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing the partnership with Proton and contributing to Nepal’s shift toward sustainable transportation. Li Khidan, Deputy Director of Proton International, added that the vehicle is built on a globally recognized platform trusted by over 610,000 customers. He reaffirmed that Nepal remains a vital market within Proton’s international growth strategy, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to delivering reliable and innovative automotive solutions to the region.
The Proton e.MAS 5 is being offered in two variants: the “Prime” and the “Premium.” To celebrate the launch, Jagdamba Motors has announced a special introductory price of Rs 2,999,000 for the Prime variant and Rs 3,499,000 for the Premium variant. This promotional pricing is available exclusively for the first 100 customers for a limited duration.
