Kathmandu: The construction of the Dhalkebar-Balganga 132 kV Transmission Line Project, a joint venture between the Government of Nepal and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in Dhanusha district, has been completed.
This project aims to integrate the 132 kV double circuit transmission line, stretching from the Dhalkebar substation to the Balganga substation in Hanspur Municipality-9, into the national grid. Project authorities have announced that high-voltage electricity testing will begin today, after which the line will be transitioned into regular operation.
Given the high-voltage nature of the infrastructure, the project office has issued an urgent safety advisory for the general public. Residents are strictly cautioned against climbing the transmission towers or touching the wires with any objects. The public is also urged to stay clear of any equipment or areas marked with “danger” signs and to specifically educate children about the risks to prevent potential accidents.
The transmission line passes through various locations across Dhanusha, including Bateshwar Rural Municipality (Ward 5), Laxminiya Rural Municipality (Wards 3 and 6), Mithila Bihari Municipality (Wards 8, 9, and 10), Aurahi Rural Municipality (Ward 1), and Hanspur Municipality (Wards 1, 4, and 9). Residents in these specific areas are requested to exercise maximum caution. Furthermore, the authorities have requested that any sightings of electrical sparks or other hazards during the testing phase be reported immediately to the nearest police station or the local Nepal Electricity Authority office.
