NetTV becomes Nepal’s first officially licensed OTT service provider

Kathmandu: NetTV, Nepal’s pioneering Over-the-Top (OTT) application, has officially secured a broadcasting license from the government to operate its digital streaming services. The permit was formally granted to Net TV Pvt. Ltd. by the Department of Information and Broadcasting under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

Having launched its OTT platform back in 2017 and already established itself as the nation’s first IPTV service provider, NetTV claims that this official licensing marks a significant milestone for the Nepali digital entertainment sector. The company believes this move provides a solid foundation to elevate the country’s streaming industry to new heights.

Niran Rajbhandari, CEO of NetTV, characterized the development as a historic and proud moment for the company. He noted that the acquisition of the first-ever OTT operating license in Nepal is a major achievement for the entire industry. He added that the company is now positioned to provide high-quality digital content across the country in a more systematic, official, and legally recognized manner.

With this license in hand, NetTV has gained the legal assurance to broadcast television channels in Nepali, English, and Hindi, along with various international programs and premium digital content, through its mobile application and website on a 24/7 basis.
Guided by the slogan “One Subscription, Unlimited Entertainment,” the company offers a vast library featuring more than 1,000 movies, popular web series, live sports, and live television. These services are designed for convenience, allowing users to access their favourite content anytime via smartphones, tablets, or smart TVs.
