Kathmandu: Citizens Bank International has reinforced its commitment to social welfare by donating essential Braille educational materials to visually impaired students in Bardiya. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the bank provided these specialized tools to students at Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, located in Bansgadhi Municipality-5. This targeted assistance was facilitated and delivered through the bank’s Badhaiyatal branch to ensure the resources reached the students directly.
Established in 1988, Nepal Rastriya Secondary School is a prominent community institution currently serving approximately 1,200 students. Within this student body, twenty individuals are visually impaired and rely entirely on Braille materials to pursue their academic goals.
Recognizing that a shortage of proper equipment was creating significant barriers to their learning and classroom engagement, the bank stepped in to provide the necessary support to bridge this educational gap.
During a formal ceremony held at the school, the bank distributed a comprehensive set of educational aids. The donation included high-quality Braille paper, professional-grade Braille styluses, and interpoint Braille slates, along with new school bags for the students. In a significant move toward digital inclusivity, the bank also provided a computer system equipped with specialized screen-reading software. The bank management stated that it remains dedicated to launching future programs aimed at fostering positive social, economic, and educational transformations across the country.
Citizens Bank International currently maintains a robust national presence, serving over 2.042 million customers across 61 districts. Its extensive physical network comprises 200 branches, 169 ATMs, three extension counters, and 42 branchless banking units. This widespread infrastructure ensures that modern financial services are accessible to diverse communities, ranging from urban centres to remote regions.
Beyond its traditional services, the bank has been a pioneer in adopting innovative digital banking solutions. In collaboration with Fonepay, it has introduced several modern features, including virtual credit cards and specialized savings accounts tailored for youth and freelancers. Furthermore, the bank has streamlined financial management for its users by integrating share applications and CRN services directly into its mobile banking app, while also offering cross-bank teller facilities to enhance transaction convenience for its growing clientele.
