Chitwan: A section of the Prithvi Highway has remained obstructed by landslides at Panidhara and Chumkhola of Phisling in Ichchakamana rural municipality-2.
The landslides occurred at 2:20 am today, bringing vehicular movement along the Highway to a complete halt.
According to the Chief and Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Chitwan, Rameshwor Poudel, work is in progress to clear the landslide debris and resume traffic by 9:00 am.
Earlier, vehicular movement along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section and the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan had been suspended from Sunday night due to the increased risk of rain- induced disasters. The routes will be reopened after the landslide debris is removed, it is said.
The local administration had imposed a ban on vehicular movement from 10:00 pm on Sunday, citing the risk of landslides.
However, vehicles heading towards Pokhara via the Narayangadh-Muglin road have remained unhindered.
