Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police arrested prominent businessman Shankar Agrawal on Wednesday. Agrawal, who serves as the Chairman of the well-known Shankar Group, was taken into custody in Kathmandu following an investigation into financial irregularities.
According to the bureau, Agrawal had been absconding after being implicated in a banking offence case. A specialized police team tracked him down and carried out the arrest in the Dillibazar area of the capital, ending his status as a fugitive in the ongoing legal matter.
CIB Spokesperson Anupam Shamsher Rana confirmed the arrest and stated that Agrawal was immediately presented before the Patan High Court for further legal proceedings. The authorities are expected to continue their inquiry into the specific charges related to the banking sector as the court determines the next steps in the case.
