Kathmandu: Nepal’s electric two-wheeler market is set to welcome a new premium electric scooter as Vishal Enterprises prepares to launch the internationally acclaimed River Indie at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo.
Ahead of its official debut, the River Indie has already been spotted undergoing road tests on Kathmandu’s roads, including the challenging uphill sections around White Gumba. The testing has generated considerable interest among EV enthusiasts and reflects the company’s focus on evaluating the scooter under real Nepali riding conditions before its official market launch.
The launch comes at a time when Nepal’s electric mobility sector is witnessing rapid growth, with consumers increasingly looking for electric two-wheelers that deliver not only efficiency but also performance, practicality and durability. Designed as the “SUV of Scooters,” the River Indie aims to meet those expectations by offering a rugged design, high ground clearance and everyday usability suited to Nepal’s diverse road conditions.
Developed by Bengaluru-based electric mobility company River, the Indie has earned global recognition by becoming the only Indian two-wheeler to receive both the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2024 and the Red Dot Product Design Award 2025, underscoring its innovation in design and engineering.
The scooter is powered by a 4-kWh battery pack and offers an IDC-certified riding range of up to 160 km on a single charge. It delivers a top speed of 90 km/h, 18-degree gradability, 177 mm of ground clearance, 14-inch wheels, a 55-litre lockable storage compartment, a unique rider footpeg and a warranty of up to eight years, making it well suited for both daily commuting and weekend adventures. The River Indie will be available in Nepal at an MRP of Rs. 3,70,000/-.
