Kathmandu: Nepal received a total of 70,193 international tourists in the month of July 2025, marking an 8.7 percent increase compared to July last year.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), tourist arrivals in July 2025 have reached 99 percent of the pre-pandemic level when compared to April 2019, indicating a strong post-COVID recovery in the tourism sector.
From January to July 2025, Nepal welcomed a total of 647,882 international visitors — the highest figure for any seven-month period since the pandemic.
NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi stated that the numbers reflect Nepal’s ongoing tourism revival and its re-emergence as a popular global destination.
Among the total arrivals in July, the largest share came from India, with 27,152 tourists accounting for 38.7 percent of the total. China followed in second place with 6,890 visitors (9.8 percent), while the United States ranked third with 6,626 tourists (9.4 percent).
Bangladesh contributed 4,413 visitors (6.3 percent), and the United Kingdom followed with 3,547 arrivals (5.1 percent).
A regional breakdown of the arrivals shows that South Asia accounted for the largest share with 33,787 tourists (48.1 percent), followed by other Asian countries with 13,052 visitors (18.6 percent).
Europe contributed 9,292 arrivals (13.2 percent), the Americas 12,775 (11.1 percent), Oceania 1,807 (2.6 percent), the Middle East 826 (1.2 percent), Africa 318 (0.5 percent), and other regions 3,329 (4.7 percent).
CEO Joshi emphasized that promotional programs under the Visit Nepal Decade initiative, increasing private sector investment, and a diverse range of tourism products have significantly boosted Nepal’s appeal to international tourists in recent months.
