Share market slides amid broad sell-off


Kathmandu: Nepali stock market witnessed a sharp fall today as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange Index (NEPSE) dropped by 24.71 points, closing at 2,797.74 on Tuesday.

This decline follows a downward trend from Monday, when NEPSE had declined by 27.90 points, settling at 2,822.46.

The trading volume also dipped significantly, with only Rs 691 million worth of shares transacted on Tuesday—an appreciable decrease from over Rs 1 billion recorded on Monday.

Of the listed companies, 225 saw their share prices fall, 24 recorded gains, and one remained unchanged. Notably, City Hotel Limited hit the positive circuit limit, while C-CL X Hydropower (Clïes Hydropower) triggered the negative circuit breakers.

All sectors except for the hotel and tourism group—which gained 1.24 percent—experienced declines, signaling broad-based weakness across market segments.
