Citizens Bank hosts leadership seminar in Madhesh Province, reports strong growth in FY 2024/25


Kathmandu: Citizens Bank International has organized a seminar titled “Madhesh Leadership: Driving Performance and Achieving Goals” for its branch managers and staff in Madhesh Province.

The event was attended by the bank’s CEO Ganesh Raj Pokharel, Deputy CEO, and senior executives.

The seminar focused on aligning local priorities for the current fiscal year and enhancing cooperation between the central and provincial levels. According to the bank, similar provincial-level programmes will be held in other provinces as well.

Citizens Bank achieved double-digit growth in key indicators—including loans, deposits, and net interest income—by the end of FY 2024/25, while successfully lowering the cost of funds, reducing the base rate, and improving credit risk management.

Loan disbursement grew by 11.15 percent to Rs 175.16 billion, up from Rs 157.58 billion in FY 2023/24. Deposits rose by 11.69 percent to Rs 214.08 billion, an increase of about Rs 22 billion year-on-year. Net interest income reached Rs 6.36 billion, up 11.20 percent.

The bank maintained a credit-to-deposit (CD) ratio of 81.91 percent, indicating balanced liquidity management. Return on assets stood at 0.55 percent, and return on equity at 5.81 percent.

Recently named Bank of the Year 2024, Citizens Bank also introduced Nepal’s first Citizens Fonepay Credit Card in partnership with Fonepay, and became the first in the country to offer share applications and CRN number services through its mobile banking app.

With a network spanning 61 districts, Citizens Bank serves 1.925 million customers through 200 branches, 169 ATMs, 3 extension counters, and 74 branchless banking units across Nepal.
