Kathmandu: Chinese automotive giant Dongfeng Motor Group has announced a major investment in its premium electric vehicle brand, Voyah Automobile, reinforcing its commitment to clean and smart transportation.
Under a capital increase agreement between Dongfeng and Voyah, Dongfeng’s subsidiary, Dongfeng Asset Management (DFAM), will invest approximately US$ 137 million into Voyah. The funding will help the brand enhance its vehicles, technology, and performance in the competitive EV market.
Following the capital injection, Voyah’s ownership structure will shift slightly. Dongfeng Motor Group will hold 79.69 percent of Voyah, DFAM will own 3.30 percent, and the remaining 17.01 percent will be retained by other shareholders. This ensures Dongfeng maintains control of Voyah while collaborating with strategic partners to drive future growth.
Voyah, positioned as Dongfeng’s premium EV marque, entered the market with smart and eco-friendly vehicles aimed at delivering modern, high-quality mobility solutions. With global demand for electric cars rising, Voyah is expected to play a pivotal role in Dongfeng’s long-term plans.
The new investment will be directed toward research and development, expanding production capacity, improving vehicle quality, and pursuing international market expansion — enabling Voyah to better compete with other major EV brands worldwide.
For Dongfeng, the investment represents more than just financial growth; it is a strategic step toward leading the transition to green and smart mobility systems. The company envisions playing a central role in shaping the future of sustainable transportation, with this move underscoring its focus on innovation and environmental responsibility.
The global auto industry has been undergoing rapid transformation in recent years, with consumers increasingly opting for eco-friendly vehicles and governments implementing supportive policies. By strengthening Voyah through this capital boost, Dongfeng aims to secure a stronger position in the future EV market.
The deal also reflects Dongfeng’s confidence in Voyah’s potential to become a major force in electric mobility. With ongoing development and financial backing, consumers can expect smarter, more reliable, and environmentally friendly vehicles from Voyah in the near future.
