Hemraj Dhakal appointed as BOD member of Securities Board

Kathmandu: Business leader Hemraj Dhakal has been appointed as a BOD member of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), representing the private sector.

Dhakal, who serves as vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), was nominated by the federation to the board.

His appointment fills the seat vacated by FNCCI’s DG, Gokarna Awasthi, who was recalled from the position by the Federation itself.

SEBON Chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dhakal on Wednesday.

With more than four decades of experience in Nepal’s industrial and business sectors, Dhakal has also been active in the country’s financial industry for over 30 years.

His appointment is expected to strengthen the private sector’s representation in the capital market regulator’s decision-making body.
