Tanahun: The Division Forest Office has constructed ponds for wildlife after increasing intrusion of wild animals to human settlements with drying up of water sources in the forest.
Under the human-wildlife conflict management initiative, the office has created ponds in eight community forests in the district.
Forest Officer Kashiraj Pandit informed that ponds were constructed in Siddhabatasan community forest in Magde rural municipality-3, Amdanda Mohoriya community forest in Devghat rural municipality-4, Janashakti community forest in Rishing rural cunicipality-3, Barahseni community forest in ward 4 of the same municipality during the last fiscal year.
Likewise, the community forests, including Tara community forest in Shuklagandaki municipality-2, Siddhathan community forest in Bandipur rural municipality-2, and Masuregaira community forest in Bhimad municipality-4 also constructed ponds last year.
He informed that each community forest was aided Rs 100,000 for the construction of the ponds.
A recharge pond has been constructed in Bagishwori community forest located in Bhanu municipality-9 at a cost of Rs 100,000.
