Sushila Karki assumes office as Prime Minister, cabinet expansion underway

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has officially taken charge of her duties Sunday.

She assumed office at the new building inside Singha Durbar, which previously housed the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Since the Prime Minister’s Office was destroyed during the Gen-Z movement, the new building has been designated as the Prime Minister’s Office.

Preparations are currently underway for the expansion of the Council of Ministers. Prime Minister Karki, who entered Singha Durbar to take up her responsibilities, is set to induct new ministers into her leadership team today.

Karki, who was sworn in as Prime Minister on Friday night, is preparing to expand the Cabinet on Sunday, albeit in a small size, following necessary consultations. For this purpose, she will appoint ministers recommended by Gen-Z representatives.
