E-sewa and Shikhar Insurance jointly launch new health insurance scheme


Kathmandu: Digital payment service provider eSewa and non-life insurance company Shikhar Insurance have jointly launched a new health insurance scheme called ‘Sahara Health Insurance’.

The plan is available to citizens aged 5–65 years and covers hospitalization, emergency treatment, surgery, medication, lab tests, and accident care.

Coverage options include Rs 200,000, Rs 300,000 and Rs 600,000.

The starting premium is fixed at Rs 1,399.

Policyholders can receive treatment at any recognized hospital across Nepal, with cashless facilities at Shikhar Insurance’s 26 network hospitals. The plan also includes one free telehealth consultation.

Customers can purchase the policy instantly via the eSewa app in just a few minutes, with the policy document delivered immediately via SMS and email.

At the launch, eSewa CEO Jagdish Khadka said, “Sahara Health Insurance will make health coverage more accessible, simple, and digital—a significant step toward digitization in insurance.”
