Kathmandu: Kathmandu’s vibrant hospitality scene has welcomed its latest addition: the Moxi Kathmandu, a stylish 101-room boutique hotel in the upscale Kamaladi, officially opened its doors on Friday under the management of global giant Marriott International.
Developed by Nepal’s MS Group with an investment of around Rs 2 billion (approximately US$ 15 million), the property marks the third Marriott-managed hotel for the group — and the first in Nepal to carry the playful, youth-focused Moxi by Marriott brand.
MS Group Chairman Shashikant Agarwal announced the soft opening, describing the project as a major achievement despite delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled for an earlier launch, the hotel still managed to begin operations in the final weeks of 2025 — a timeline the group views as a testament to its determination and hard work.
Located in the heart of the capital, Moxi Kathmandu positions itself as a lively, contemporary alternative to traditional luxury hotels. Designed with younger travellers and urban explorers in mind, it promises a “happening” atmosphere with a rooftop bar, all-day dining outlet, grab-and-go café, street-level lounge bar, outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, health club, spa, and salon.
The hotel joins MS Group’s growing portfolio that already includes the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel (five-star) in Naxal and the Fairfield by Marriott (four-star) in Thamel — both also operated under Marriott flags.
With its bold design, social spaces, and central location just minutes from Durbar Marg and Thamel, Moxi Kathmandu is set to attract a new generation of domestic and international guests looking for energy, style, and affordability in one of Asia’s fastest-growing tourist capitals.
