Kathmandu: Citizens Bank International Limited has organized awareness programmes on breast and prostate cancer as part of its commitment to employee well-being.
The initiative focused on providing accurate information about cancer, dispelling common myths, and highlighting the importance of early screening, prevention and timely medical consultation. The bank partnered with Medanta – The Medicity Hospital in Gurugram, India, to deliver expert-led sessions, adding credibility and clinical depth to the program.
A dedicated webinar for female employees covered essential knowledge and practices related to breast cancer, led by Dr. Kanchan Kaur, a senior breast cancer specialist at Medanta. Held on Tuesday, the session drew active participation from 513 women employees, making it highly interactive. A separate session for male employees aged 30 and above took place on Wednesday under the theme “Prostate Cancer: Myths and Facts.” This was facilitated by Dr. Puneet Ahluwalia, a senior specialist from the same hospital, and saw 509 participants. The bank expects both webinars to contribute to greater health awareness and long-term preventive care among staff.
Citizens Bank said it plans to continue similar awareness initiatives for employees, customers and other stakeholders. In addition, cardholders are being offered up to a 15 percent discount on service charges at Medanta Hospital, aimed at making specialized treatment more accessible.
The bank, which has received the “Bank of the Year” award for 2024 and 2025, has also been active on the digital innovation front. It earlier launched Nepal’s first virtual credit card in partnership with Fonepay, introduced a youth-focused “Gen-Z Savings Account,” and rolled out an integrated online platform called “Citizens Digi Bank.” Targeting the growing freelance workforce, the bank has also introduced a dedicated freelancer savings account. Customers can now apply for share offerings and obtain a CRN number directly through the mobile banking app, and a cross-bank teller QR service allows customers of other banks to withdraw cash from Citizens Bank branches.
Citizens Bank currently provides modern banking services to nearly two million customers through a nationwide network that includes 200 branches in 61 districts, 169 ATMs, three extension counters and 42 branchless banking units.
