Prabhu Bank appoints Suman Sharma as new CEO amid leadership shake-up

Kathmandu: Prabhu Bank has appointed veteran banker Suman Sharma as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership transition following recent turmoil at the top.

The move comes after the bank’s former CEO, Ashok Sherchan, was suspended by the board after Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau launched a probe against him on alleged banking-related offenses.

During the interim period, Niraj Lamsal had been serving as Acting CEO since mid-December, overseeing the bank’s operations.

Sharma brings extensive experience to the role, having previously led Machhapuchchhre Bank and the former Sunrise Bank as CEO.

Known for his strong grasp of banking operations and the broader economy, his appointment is seen as a step toward stabilizing leadership and reinforcing governance at Prabhu Bank.
