Kathmandu: Nepal’s stock market closed sharply higher on Thursday, with the benchmark NEPSE index climbing 27.19 points to settle at 2,708.70, marking a strong double-digit gain on the final trading day of the week. The rebound follows a slight dip of 1.64 points recorded on Wednesday.
Trading activity also surged, with total turnover exceeding NPR 11.58 billion on Thursday, a significant increase compared to over NPR 7.45 billion in transactions the previous session.
Market breadth was broadly positive. Share prices of 201 companies advanced, while 55 declined and four remained unchanged, reflecting strong investor sentiment across most sectors.
Three companies—Kalinchowk Darshan Limited, Super Mai Hydropower, and Modi Energy—hit the positive circuit limit, with their stock prices jumping by more than nine percent during the session.
