Kathmandu: Nabil Bank, in collaboration with Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital and Seti Provincial Hospital, is set to organize a free burn treatment camp at Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi from February 24 to 26. The initiative, titled the “Nabil Free Burn Treatment Camp,” aims to provide medical care to individuals suffering from burn-related injuries.
The camp is being conducted as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts. According to Nabil Bank, the program will begin in Dhangadhi and gradually expand to other provinces. In its first phase, the camp is expected to benefit more than 120 patients through its partnership with Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital.
The bank stated that economically disadvantaged and low-income individuals living with long-term complications from burn injuries will receive consultations, treatment, and surgical services during the camp. The initiative is being carried out in coordination with FECT Nepal under Kirtipur Hospital and Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital.
Patients eligible for free treatment include those suffering from contractures or restricted movement due to burn injuries, hair loss caused by burns, fused fingers, fusion of more than five fingers or toes, deformities requiring reconstructive surgery following explosions, and inward-turned feet resulting from burn complications.
For patients with more complex conditions, arrangements will be made for free treatment at Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu, Kathmandu. The bank said the camp is intended to improve the quality of life of burn survivors by providing timely and specialized medical care.
According to government statistics, Nepal records approximately 56,000 burn incidents each year, resulting in an average of 2,100 deaths annually. Many survivors are left with severe complications such as skin contractures and fused limbs, which can lead to long-term disability.
Burn victims require immediate and specialized care, but the lack of dedicated burn treatment centers outside Kathmandu has limited access to quality services. Many patients, particularly from low-income backgrounds, are unable to travel to the capital for treatment and often go without proper medical care.
Nabil Bank, one of Nepal’s leading commercial banks, has been actively engaged in social initiatives aimed at driving positive change. Through its Nabil SSE platform, the bank has emphasized social entrepreneurship, development, and job creation as key pillars of its commitment to sustainable development.
