Nepal’s only dollar billionaire Binod Chaudhary sees wealth rise to US$ 2.1 billion

Kathmandu: The net worth of Nepal’s only dollar billionaire, Binod Chaudhary, has increased by US$ 100 million, according to the latest figures from Forbes.

In 2026, the fortune of the owner of Chaudhary Group (CG) is estimated at US$ 2.1 billion, up from US$ 2 billion a year earlier.

Chaudhary’s wealth has been steadily rising since 2021, after he first entered the global billionaire club in 2017 with a net worth of US$ 1.3 billion. His fortune grew to US$ 1.5 billion in 2018 and reached US$ 1.7 billion in 2019, before falling to US$ 1.4 billion in 2020 and 2021 as the global economy and businesses were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recovery began in 2022 when his wealth rebounded to US$ 1.5 billion, climbing further to US$ 1.8 billion in 2023 and remaining at that level in 2024. It rose again in 2025 by US$ 200 million to reach US$ 2 billion and has now crossed the US$ 2.1 billion mark, placing him 1,982nd on the global billionaire rankings.

Now 70 years old, Chaudhary has built a diversified business empire spanning banking, food, hospitality and other sectors.

Based in Kathmandu, he has three sons and serves as chairman of CG Corp Global.

Much of his wealth comes from stakes in Nabil Bank and the popular instant noodle brand Wai Wai produced by CG Foods.

Chaudhary Group manufactures Wai Wai noodles in India, Serbia and Bangladesh, and is currently opening a factory in Egypt.

The group is also planning to expand into sausage production alongside its noodle business.

Beyond food manufacturing, CG has a significant presence in the hospitality sector, owning and managing 143 hotels and partnering with India’s Taj Hotels chain to operate luxury properties.

Within the family business, his sons play key leadership roles: Nirvana Chaudhary oversees operations in Nepal, while Varun and Rahul Chaudhary manage international businesses.

Nirvana and Rahul also serve as managing directors of the group. Forbes updates the global billionaire rankings daily based on fluctuations in the value of their assets.
