Kathmandu: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a globally recognised player in the pick-up segment, today announced the launch of the disruptive Mahindra Bolero MaXX Pik-Up in Nepal, further strengthening its strong pick-up portfolio across international markets.
The Nepal launch was led by Agni Incorporated Private Limited, under the Agni Group – the official distributor for Mahindra’s pick-up and commercial utility vehicles in Nepal. This marks the introduction of Nepal’s first and only pick-up with a 2-tonne payload capacity – Mahindra Bolero MaXX Pik-Up. The new pick-up was officially unveiled during a special launching ceremony held on Thursday at the Mahindra showroom in Gairidhara, Kathmandu. The event was attended by key representatives from Mahindra & Mahindra and the Agni Group, along with media personnel and valued customers. In addition to Kathmandu, the vehicle was simultaneously launched in Birgunj, Butwal, and Janakpur on the same day. Furthermore, there are plans to launch the vehicle soon in other major commercial hubs across Nepal, including Bhairahawa, Chitwan, Hetauda, Biratnagar, Damak, Gaighat, Pokhara, Dhangadhi, Dang, Nepalgunj, Surkhet, and Birtamod.
Setting new benchmarks for payload capacity, fuel efficiency, safety and the overall driving experience, the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up promises to further cement Mahindra’s leadership position in the sub-2 tonne commercial vehicle segment in Nepal.
Mahindra will offer two heavy-duty variants to its customers in the country, the HD 1.7 LX and the HD 2.0L SXi. These variants are perfectly suited to both entry-level LCV operations as well as heavy load-bearing intercity logistics. They are built to traverse rugged and hilly terrain, making them the SCVs of choice for the roads in Nepal.
The HD 1.7 LX variant will start at a special launching price of NPR 2,995,000. Prices for the HD 2.0L SXi, meanwhile, will start at a special launching price of NPR 3,295,000. Both variants will be sold through dealerships operated by the Agni Group, the official distributor of Mahindra vehicles in Nepal.
Sachin Arolkar, Head of International Operations, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “The Bolero MaXX has earned a reputation for being a highly capable, dependable, safe, efficient and versatile pickup. These attributes, combined with its low cost of operations, have made it a firm favourite with drivers and fleet operators alike. Designed for safety and comfort as much as utility, the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up has disrupted the small commercial vehicle segment. We believe this is the perfect SCV for Nepal’s evolving logistics needs, and we are confident that its launch will consolidate our leadership position in the market.”
Cabinet Shrestha, Chairman, Agni Group, said, “We are delighted to be bringing the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up to Nepal. It is a pickup that has proven to be overwhelmingly popular in India and for good reason. Its ruggedness and versatility will be even more at home on Nepal’s roads and we are confident it will redefine the SCV space in the country.”
The Bolero MaXX Pik-Up promises to be a game changer. It has been built on an all-new platform but still carries over the core values and strengths that are synonymous with the Bolero DNA – robustness, toughness, reliability, low maintenance cost and high resale value. It also maintains the minimalist and timeless design language of the Bolero nameplate.
It is powered by Mahindra’s advanced m2Di engine with diesel and CNG options, with payload capacity ranging from 1.7 to 2 tonnes and a cargo bed length of up to 3,050 mm. The Bolero MaXX Pik-Up has also been designed for superior comfort and functionality, prioritising safety. A wider wheel track, meanwhile, ensures greater stability and improved handling. A single-piece Body Side Outer (BSO) significantly boosts strength and rigidity, while the use of high-strength low-alloy parts ensures durability.
