Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has expected that the cultural and historical festivals would contribute to strengthening national unity by deepening the feelings of mutual trust, harmony, tolerance and cooperation among the Nepali people belonging to diverse nationalities, languages, cultures and geographies.
In a message of best wishes sent to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Ram Navami festival today, President Paudel wished that the festival encourage the feelings of mutual understanding, sustainable peace and fraternity among the entire Nepali people.
Every year, the festival of ‘Ram Navami’ is celebrated with great enthusiasm on the ninth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Chaitra, marking the birthday of Lord Ramachandra, the epitome of virtue.
It is believed that performing special worship on the day brings the grace of the Lord and fulfils all desired tasks.
President Paudel believed that such traditional festivals, which have been in practice for centuries, further help preserve our ancient civilization as well as our religion and culture.
Ram Navami is not only the birthday of Lord Ram but is also considered a day of joy, marking the victory of righteousness over evil on the entire Earth.
On this day, grand fairs are mainly held in different parts of the country and at the Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur.
Meanwhile, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav also extended greetings to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad for their happiness, peace, prosperity and good health.
In a message sent today on the occasion of Ram Navami festival, he said that Ram Navami is not only a religious celebration but also an opportunity to embrace the life ideals of Lord Ram, the symbol of truth, duty and dignity.
“Our indigenous tradition, culture, religion and faith are crucial for us to keep aloof from malicious thinking and intents. May the festival become a medium to take out Nepali society from frustration and immorality”, the message reads.
