Karnali: The Karnali Province government has decided to allocate a budget of Rs 34 million for the implementation programme of the Innovation Partnership Fund for seven municipalities in different districts of the province.
Today’s cabinet meeting of the provincial government decided to grant budget authority to the relevant municipalities for projects to be implemented under the programme in the current fiscal year 2026/27.
The provincial government spokesperson and Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Binod Kumar Shah, said that the budget has been arranged with the aim of bringing transformation in areas such as digital technology, service delivery improvement, education, health, and enterprise development through the innovation programme.
He stated that the selected projects were determined based on local needs and the expansion of technology-friendly services.
The provincial government expects to expand the use of technology at the local level through these projects, making service delivery effective, transparent and accessible. It is believed that through innovation, local economic activities will be strengthened, and it will contribute to job creation.
According to Spokesperson Shah, under the innovation programme, a budget of Rs 4.2 million has been authorised for local service delivery based on digital technology in Sanibheri Municipality, Rukum West, Rs 4.2 million for the integrated digital service and information management system in Sharada Rural Municipality, Salyan, Rs 5 million 556 thousand for the digital classroom management project for technology-friendly education in Chaurajahari Municipality, Rukum West, and Rs 5 million 551 thousand and 700 for the business enterprise development project for economic development and transformation in Narayan Municipality, Dailekh.
Similarly, Spokesperson Shah said that Rs 7.5 million has been allocated for the Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality’s community hospital strengthening programme based on digital innovation, Rs 2 million 288 thousand and 300 for the operation of the technology-friendly integrated service delivery centre in Nalgad Municipality, Jajarkot, and Rs 4.9 million for the operation of a ‘digital municipality’ in Raskot Municipality, Kalikot.
