Inaruwa municipality removing illegal structures

Inaruwa (Sunsari): The Inaruwa municipality of Sunsari district has begun removing structures set up on encroached land along the East-West Highway.

Chief administrative officer at Inaruwa municipality, Dilli Niraula, informed that the local level was dismantling the structures that encroached upon the public space. The removal drive is being launched to meet the criteria of the East-West Highway.

Shops and kiosks, and construction materials occupying the public space, would be removed forcefully after the notice issued earlier for removal was ignored by the concerned persons. The local level is using dozers to demolish the illegal structures.

It was March 19, and the municipality had issued a notice, giving a week’s deadline to leave the space. However, the notice was ignored. It prompted the municipality to resort to using dozers to remove illegal structures, according to Mayor Kedar Bhandari.

The construction materials and scraps scattered on public space and random structures in the stretch of Bus Chowk to Sukuwagachhi along the East-West Highway had not only occupied the space illegally but also given an ugly sight to the cityscape and caused obstruction to people’s movement.

The residents have also demanded that the government that it continued clean city drive by removing illegal businesses on the roadside.

The encroachment of the road has turned Inaruwa bazaar into a chaotic place, forcing the locals to exert pressure on the government to speed up the removal of illegal objects and outlets.
