Kathmandu: The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumers’ Protection has fined two firms for violating the business code. The enterprises were fined in line with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and the Consumers’ Protection Regulation, 2076, after they flouted the rule of fair business.
During the market monitoring, the West Shopping Centre located at Thamel and the Kantipur Café at Tribhuvan International Airport each was fined Rs 205 thousand, while the Goodluck Trekking Shop of Thamel was directed to appear at the Department with business documents.
Forty-three other firms were asked to improve business practices. The market monitoring was conducted by the Department team, which also comprised rights defenders and concerned stakeholders. The Department has continued market monitoring for a long time.
