Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has officially announced the introduction of a specialized “Nepal Investment Visa” for international backers who commit capital exceeding government-defined thresholds.
This initiative was unveiled by President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday during the presentation of the government’s annual policy and programs for the upcoming 2026/27 fiscal year before a joint session of the Federal Parliament.
To facilitate a more welcoming environment for international capital, the government plans to amend existing foreign investment legislation to broaden the scope of the automatic approval route. Under this revised framework, high-value investors whose contributions surpass the designated minimums will be granted the dedicated investment visa to streamline their stay and operations within the country.
Furthermore, a new “Investment Express” policy will be enacted to drastically reduce bureaucratic hurdles and accelerate the inflow of capital. This ambitious reform aims to provide a fast-track experience where every essential step of the investment lifecycle—ranging from initial business registration to the issuance of final construction permits—is guaranteed to be finalized within a strict 30-day timeframe.
