Government unveils “Digital Governance Blueprint” to drive AI innovation and global film production

Kathmandu: In alignment with a new “Digital Governance Blueprint,” the Government of Nepal has announced the establishment of a robust national digital infrastructure designed to modernize state operations.

While presenting the policy and programs for the upcoming fiscal year before a joint session of the Federal Parliament, President Ram Chandra Paudel detailed plans to develop a centralized coordination system for the implementation of G-Cloud and comprehensive data policies.

This strategic roadmap prioritizes the advancement of a national digital strategy, the expansion of electronic procurement systems, and the creation of standardized interoperability frameworks to ensure seamless communication across government cloud platforms.

The government aims to transition toward a knowledge-based economy by leveraging the power of data, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity to foster a thriving ecosystem for innovation and startups. To support this digital evolution, the state will focus on expanding the latest telecommunications technologies and strengthening radio frequency management through more effective monitoring and standardized norms.

A key priority in this effort is to eliminate the digital divide by ensuring that digital access reaches the country’s most remote and underserved regions, ensuring no community is left behind in the technological age.

To ensure transparency and accountability within the communication landscape, the government plans to create a coordinated regulatory structure involving federal, provincial, and local levels for advertising and media management.

Furthermore, the national postal service is set for a significant overhaul, with a focus on technological modernization and complete digital transformation to meet contemporary needs.

Beyond administrative reforms, the government is introducing policies to formally recognize and develop the film, documentary, photography, and digital content sectors as full-fledged industries.

By promoting Nepal’s stunning natural and cultural heritage to the global market, the state intends to establish the country as a premier international destination for film production and creative content creation.

This multifaceted approach seeks to position Nepal as an attractive hub for global creators while simultaneously strengthening its internal governance and economic foundations through technology.
