Kathmandu: Nepal’s cumulative unsettled audit irregularities, commonly referred to as beruju, have surpassed Rs 755 billion, according to the latest report from the Office of the Auditor General.
The 63rd annual report of the Auditor General shows that outstanding irregularities had reached Rs 755.17 billion by the end of the last fiscal year 2024/25.
The report states that an additional Rs 88 billion in irregularities was recorded during the fiscal year alone.
Of the newly identified amount, Rs 53.94 billion was linked to federal government offices, Rs 5.23 billion to provincial entities, Rs 19.05 billion to local governments, and Rs 10.32 billion to committees and other institutions.
The Auditor General’s Office audited expenditures totalling Rs 9.484 trillion during the year.
However, the report also noted that audits of 179 entities involving Rs 147.90 billion could not be completed due to disruptions caused by the Gen-Z movement protests held on September 8 and 9, 2025.
