Kathmandu: The government has appointed Mukesh Dangol as the new Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
Dangol, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and a resident of Ward No. 26 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, was appointed by Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.
The Ministry of Tourism had published a public notice in the state-owned daily Gorkhapatra on April 24, inviting applications from qualified candidates for the top post at the aviation authority. Dangol was selected from among 21 applicants who submitted their candidacies by the May 3 deadline.
Before his appointment, Dangol had briefly served as acting Director General of the authority for about a week after former Director General Pradeep Adhikari was suspended over corruption allegations.
However, the government later reassigned Dangol and handed the acting leadership of the authority to Deputy Director General Devchandra Lal Karn before ultimately confirming Dangol as the permanent chief of the aviation regulator.
