Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has initiated a massive streamlining of its administrative apparatus, announcing the dissolution of 31 government agencies as part of a move to cut redundancy and optimize public spending.
This sweeping reform package also includes the merger of six existing entities, the transfer of another six agencies to different administrative tiers, and the comprehensive restructuring of 18 additional organizations to improve their overall efficiency.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle revealed these structural changes while presenting the federal budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 during a joint session of the Federal Parliament. By significantly reducing the number of state-funded bodies, the government aims to create a leaner, more effective bureaucracy capable of delivering better results for the public while alleviating the fiscal burden on the national treasury.
