Kathmandu: Himalayan Airlines, the Nepal-China joint venture carrier, is poised to bridge Kathmandu with Shenzhen, often hailed as China’s “Silicon Valley,” starting 4 June.
This landmark move marks a significant expansion of the airline’s regional footprint, establishing a vital link between Nepal’s capital and one of China’s most dynamic economic centres. The service will operate twice weekly, connecting Tribhuvan International Airport directly with Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.
According to the newly released schedule, flights from Kathmandu are slated for every Tuesday and Thursday, departing at 21:50 and touching down in Shenzhen at 04:30 the following morning. The return journey will see aircraft leaving Shenzhen on Wednesdays and Fridays at 05:55, arriving back in Kathmandu at 08:35 on the same day. These timings are strategically designed to offer seamless transit for business travellers and tourists alike, fostering easier movement across the border.
The airline views this new route as a catalyst for strengthening the long-standing bilateral ties between Nepal and China. By establishing a direct corridor to a global technology and trade hub, the carrier anticipates a surge in tourism and new commercial opportunities for Nepalese businesses.
