Simkot (Humla): Namkha Rural Municipality in the district has been declared fully immunized local level.
As per the national immunization scheme, the children up to 59 months were immunized in the local level, thereby reaching the target of full immunization and sustainability in the fiscal year 2082/83.
The official declaration was made at a programme organized by the Rural Municipality, according to the chief of the health section, Sagar Lama. Children from all six wards were administered vaccines in coordination with all sides, including health institutions, he added.
After the completion of vaccination, a process follows for certification to make official announcement.
Lama, however, said that only the announcement of immunization was not enough, but its sustainability. Sustained status requires active engagement of health workers, local-level people’s representatives and women health volunteers.
Vice chair of the Rural Municipality, Takdir Lama, argued that there was remarkable progress in immunization because of increased public health awareness.
