Kathmandu: The Office of the Problematic Cooperative Management Committee has officially released a list of 132 individuals and entities identified as debtors of two recently blacklisted cooperatives.
This public disclosure follows a formal decision made by the committee on May 6 as part of an intensified effort to address the financial crisis within these institutions. The list identifies 12 borrowers associated with Hamro Naya Krishi Cooperative and 120 debtors linked to the Krishi Bikash Multipurpose Cooperative Limited.
The committee clarified that the disclosed names are based on available internal lending records and serve as a formal summons for those involved. While the authorities have publicized these names to facilitate debt recovery, they have also acknowledged the possibility of record-keeping discrepancies. Consequently, any individual who believes they have already cleared their dues but finds their name on the list is urged to present themselves at the committee’s office with valid documentary evidence to rectify the records.
For those with outstanding liabilities, the committee has issued a stern directive to settle their debts immediately by contacting the management office. Failure to comply with this notice will result in the initiation of rigorous recovery proceedings in accordance with existing laws, which may include further legal penalties and asset seizures.
By making these names public, the management committee aims to expedite the return of misappropriated funds and uphold the financial rights of the savers who have been severely impacted by the mismanagement of these cooperatives.
