Xiaomi launches flagship Xiaomi 17T in Nepal with advanced Leica camera and vision care display

Kathmandu: Global technology leader Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the Xiaomi 17T, in the Nepali market. Designed to meet the demands of modern users, the company describes the Xiaomi 17T as an advanced device featuring a high-performance Leica 5x camera system, a smart display developed with a primary focus on eye protection, and a high-capacity battery.

The smartphone’s powerful triple camera system is the result of a collaboration between Xiaomi’s cutting-edge imaging technology and Leica optics. It features a 50-megapixel main camera capable of capturing exceptionally clear and high-quality images. A standout feature is the Leica 5x telephoto camera, which utilizes a specialized optical design and premium lens structure.

This system supports Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and provides a versatile range of capabilities, from macro photography at a distance of 30 centimetres to 10x optical-level zoom and a staggering 120x AI-based zoom, making it easy to capture both near and distant subjects.

Beyond photography, the device offers professional-grade video capabilities, including 4K cinematic recording at 60 frames per second. This feature creates a natural bokeh effect in the background, providing a more lifelike and engaging visual experience.

Shifting away from traditional static photography, the Xiaomi 17T introduces “Live Moment,” a feature that captures the movement, emotion, and expression leading up to a shot, giving everyday scenes a deeper sense of meaning and context.

The hardware is further enhanced by a large 1/1.55-inch image sensor and a Leica Ultra Pure Optical design. The inclusion of a 1G+6P hybrid Leica Summilux lens structure ensures that even the most minute details are rendered with extreme clarity. Its wide aperture allows for superior light balance and attractive depth-of-field effects.

Additionally, the Live Portrait feature adds a natural blur to the background in portrait mode, making the subject stand out more effectively. Various cinematic modes and Ultra HD 4K Live Moment capabilities provide users with the tools to tell their stories more creatively.

For the first time, Xiaomi has introduced Vision Care technology in the 17T. The 1.5K AMOLED display, with a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, automatically adjusts to environmental lighting to control blue light, flicker, and motion blur, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience all day long. According to the company, this is the first smartphone to receive Xiaomi’s “4 I-Care” certification for eye safety.

To support these advanced features, the Xiaomi 17T is equipped with a 6,500 mAh battery, representing an 18 percent increase in capacity over the previous generation. The 67W fast charging technology ensures that users have sufficient power throughout the day. Performance is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, built on a 4-nanometer process. This chipset offers significant improvements in CPU, graphics, and AI processing, making multitasking and modern gaming smoother and more efficient.

In Nepal, the Xiaomi 17T is available in three striking colours: Purple, Blue, and Black. The variant featuring 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage has been priced at NPR 89,999. Furthermore, the company has announced that every customer who purchases a Xiaomi 17T in Nepal will receive a pair of Redmi Buds 6 Play, valued at Rs 2,499, free of charge.
